Football's Great Nomads: The Most-Traveled Careers We've Tracked

Most professional footballers settle into two or three clubs over the course of a career. A small handful do something completely different — moving so often that their career map looks more like a well-used passport than a résumé.

Topping Club2Club's database is Loïc Rémy, who has appeared for 14 different clubs across our tracked leagues. Spells at Lyon, Marseille, Newcastle, Chelsea, and Queens Park Rangers were followed by a run through Spain with Las Palmas and Getafe, and finally Turkey, where he played for Çaykur Rizespor and Adana Demirspor before finishing his career at Stade Brestois. Few careers cross that many borders and leagues while staying entirely within the professional game.

Close behind is Kevin-Prince Boateng, whose 13 clubs read like a tour of European football's biggest names: Tottenham, Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan, Barcelona, Beşiktaş, and Fiorentina all feature on a résumé that somehow also includes two separate spells at both Hertha BSC and AC Milan. Boateng became almost as well known for the sheer breadth of his career as for any single spell within it.

Thievy Bifouma and Javi Montero aren't household names in the same way, but their stint counts — 14 and 13 clubs respectively — tell an equally real story: the journeyman path that keeps far more professional footballers employed than the handful of global superstars who spend a decade at one giant club.

Careers like these are exactly what Club2Club's data was built to surface — not just the famous moves, but the full, stint-by-stint shape of a career. You can trace any player's complete club history, in order, using the Players tab.
